Hypnobabies has arrived!

How excited was I when I got home yesterday to see a box addressed to me - I just KNEW it was my Hypnobabies Homestudy course (http://www.hypnobabies.com/). As I posted yesterday, I was feeling pretty bad yesterday so on the way home, let PJ know that my evening would consist of sitting on the couch to help with the cramping (I am fine today!). And all that sitting gave me an opportunity to dive right in - I downloaded my new CDs (scripts) on to my IPod and started Week 1 of my study.

To give a little background - during Brennan's birth I really had a hard time relaxing - was very tense and as a result, had intense pain. By the time we realized he was Frank Breech, I was relieved to get the epidural since I had no other option. BUT, I do not want that if at all possible this time around so I knew I had to do something differently. I also knew that I wanted to have a successful VBAC. Hiring a doula was already on my radar but in conversations with my doctor about how we would approach this birth, she suggested hypnobabies, as it has proven to help increase chances of both a successful VBAC and a drug-free birth. I feel blessed to have a dr that supports both the inclusion of a doula and me incorporating an alternative birthing style in to this birth!

Anyway - I cannot wait to start hypnobabies! This will help me achieve my goal of increased relaxation and hopefully a successful VBAC. In addition to using hypnosis techniques, hypnobabies is very much focused on the idea of positive thinking! So no more watching birth shows on TV, reading books about births (unless they are positive stories), talking to people about their experiences (again, unless they are totally positive and natural!) and such - time to focus on what I want and surround my mind with such thoughts!

Also - had my second chiropractic appt this morning and go back again Friday. I am amazed that I am now pain-free in my back and have been since I left after my first appt Monday - so excited about that!

Side Bar - so I had a Starbucks Gift Card (GCs are about the only time I can justify spending $3-5 on a FUN coffee) and splurged yesterday and today on a Grande Decaf Skim Extra Hot No Whip Mocha (though the Starbucks employee told me I took all the fun out of it I guess b/c it is skim, decaf, and no whip? though I still think it is splurge!). YUM YUM! Baby Girl McCool loved it too and was kick around after I drank my yummy treat!

  1. I'd can't wait to hear about how you like (or dislike) hypnobabies!
